Ancient Craft, Modern Excellence
Terroir
In spring 2014, Areshy Estate launched a plan to cultivate a Saperavi vineyard, initiating the farming process in the Kindzmarauli micro-zone.
The vineyard soil, located on the slopes of the Caucasus Mountains, is slightly carbonated and composed of thick clay. On the left side of the vineyard, Alazani river is streaming down from the Caucasus mountains, further enriching the soil.
Weather patterns around Areshy Estate are shaped by atmospheric processes originating in subtropical and temperate regions, moving from eastern and western longitudes. This ideal climate provides Areshy with excellent conditions for cultivating high quality wine grapes.
Our vineyard is situated in Mtisdziri village, on the western side of Kvareli, thriving on the left bank of the Areshy River. Spanning 10 hectares, the vineyard is surrounded by a forested mountainous landscape.
Wine Production
After harvesting the finest grapes, Areshy’s chief winemaker—who has 15 years of experience—uses classic European techniques, including cold maceration, fermentation, malolactic fermentation, and aging in stainless steel, French oak barrels, and Qvevri (clay vessels), to create premium Saperavi wine.
Equipment
Areshy Estate also partnered with French-oak barrel producer Tonnellerie Sylvain located in Beardoux, France to import barrels and elevate Saperavi richness in winemaking.
